Groups

What are groups and why do they matter?

Groups are web sites for organizations or any public or private group that wants to have a complete site for there use. A Group will include all activities that are contained in the BlogOfTheTown site such as: Events, Photo Galleries, etc.

Once a Group is established it will have it’s own domain name that your group can access directly such as: www.AtHomeInCentennial.com/LiarsClub. Groups can be set up with both public and private segments. The private segments are moderated by the Group Administrator that allows other members in by invitation. The Group Administrator can also moderate discussions and edit/delete any threads that are deemed to be inappropriate.

What are groups and how can I use them?

Groups are established by the site sponsor at the request of a user or visitor. A group can include, but is not limited to Home Owners Associations, Church or Religious groups and organizations, sports organizations, service clubs, non-profit organizations or any community group that desires to have a forum or blog for their members. Once a Group is established it will have it’s own domain name that can be distributed to the members of the organization for their own use and postings.

The user does not have access to create a new group for your organization. If you would like to request this access you can contact the site sponsor. Be sure to use the User Access category. Explain in your message that you would like access to create a group and describe the group/organization's purpose and likely subscribers (if any).

- Public Groups are visible to all visitors to the community website and are listed on the home page. While most of the content in Public Groups should be made visible to everyone, some content can be made visible only to subscribers.

- Private Groups are only visible to subscribers. While most of the content in Private Groups is visible only to subscribers, some content can be made visible to everyone visiting the group's site.
